Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. Do you accept insurance?

Yes. We accept in-network plans including Cigna, Aetna, BCBS, United Healthcare, Optum, Oxford, Oscar, and Kaiser. If you're covered, you’ll typically only pay your insurance copay. Not sure, call your insurer and ask:

  • Do I have mental health benefits?

  • What’s my copay for therapy?

  • How many sessions are covered?

  • Do I need a referral?

2. What if I can’t afford the standard fee?

We offer a Sliding Fee Scale for those experiencing financial hardship. Complete the short application form, submit proof of income, and we'll respond within 5 business days. Please note that approval isn't guaranteed.

3. How do I schedule an appointment?

Click “Book Your First Session” on our website under Patient Portal, select your service, and complete intake paperwork via the secure portal. If needed, insurance verification will be completed after booking.

4. Is therapy confidential?

Yes. All sessions are confidential and protected under HIPAA. Information will only be shared without consent in very rare circumstances, such as risk of harm to self or others, or required legal mandates.

5. Why should I see a therapist instead of a friend?

Therapists are trained professionals who offer objective, unbiased support, maintain strict confidentiality, and bring evidence-based practices, not just friendly conversation or advice.

6. How will therapy help me?

Therapy offers:

  • Support and coping strategies

  • Skills to manage emotions

  • Insight into patterns holding you back

  • Strengthened relationships

  • Confidence and self-esteem building

7. How long is a therapy session and how often should I go?

Most sessions are 45–60 minutes, commonly scheduled weekly. Frequency and length depend on your goals. It may be brief (4–8 sessions) or longer (12–20+ for deeper work)

8. What will I do during a session?

Therapists often begin with open-ended questions (e.g., “What brings you here now?”) to clarify your goals. Sessions may include discussion, skill-building, and homework related to therapy techniques like CBT, mindfulness, or relational work

9. What types of therapy do you use?

We draw from evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, interpersonal therapy, and family systems methods, tailoring them to your unique needs

10. How quickly will I see changes?

While some clients experience relief in just a few sessions, moderate issues often require 12–20 sessions. Progress depends on your goals, engagement, and external circumstances
